Meet Our Pastor
Pastor John Miller (AKA "Johnny")
Pastor John joined Calvary Chapel Kona Coast in March, 2008 as our first Senior Pastor. He and Krista, his wife of thirty years, moved from Arroyo Grande, California and currently reside in Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawai'i.
Pastor John received Christ through the ministry of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa during the "Jesus Movement" of the 1970's. He has been in full time ministry since 1999 and has a passion for teaching the "whole counsel of God." His MISSION is to teach God's word with fidelity, creativity, and enthusiasm to those who will apply its principles to their lives and will, in turn, go on to teach others the same.
Pastor John has a Bachelors Degree in Christian Education and has devoted himself to a lifetime of seeking God and studying and sharing His Word. While not a "flashy" preacher, Pastor John has a powerful gift of teaching from the Holy Spirit that enables him to clearly explain God's word and help God's people understand each passage.
One of his favorite Bible verses is Nehemiah 8:8 - "They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained the meaning of what was being read, helping the people understand each passage."
